Registration Instructions
This page is for registering and completing the pre-course work for a live online or in-person instructor-led training (ILT). The pre-course work includes a demographic survey, knowledge, and self-confidence assessment, and access to the Zoom session registration link if applicable.
When you click the purple “Register for Live Session” button. You will be directed to create an account on this site. Once your account is set up you will be able to complete your registration and access the pre-course materials.
Please save your login credentials so that you can access the post-course assessment after attending the live session.
Course Description
The Seizure Recognition and First Aid Certification course formally educates the public on the Epilepsy Foundation’s approved procedures for recognizing seizures and responding to someone having a seizure.
This course aims to increase the knowledge, skill, and confidence in applying seizure first aid. The first aid procedures in the guide reflects the standard of knowledge and current best practices. This information is presented in a format suited for direct training of the public. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a two-year certification.
While everyone should know basic seizure first aid, becoming Seizure First Aid Certified takes you further. You will learn how to recognize signs of a seizure and how to use the basic first aid steps in different settings, for different seizure types and when medical help may be needed.

Most of the National Epilepsy Office Seizure Recognition and First Aid Certification trainings are offered online with instructor-led webinars. In-person trainings may also be available through your local Epilepsy Foundation.
Register for a LIVE instructor-led training session by clicking the purple “Register for Live Session” button above. (If you are taking the training with others, each person needs to enroll separately.)
To complete your registration for a LIVE instructor-led training managed by the National Epilepsy Office, follow the below instructions:
BEFORE attending a LIVE instructor-led training:
1. If attending a LIVE webinar session, the first part of the registration process includes completing a demographic survey, knowledge, and confidence assessment here on the Epilepsy Learning Portal.
2. The links to the LIVE webinar sessions are accessible once the surveys and assessments are completed.
3. The second part of the registration process includes registering directly on a webinar platform like Zoom. Save the participant link once the registration is completed on the LIVE webinar platform (ex. Zoom) to enter the session on the date and time registered.
4. If attending a LIVE in-person session, complete surveys, and assessments here on the Epilepsy Learning Portal. Additional instructions will be provided on the page as needed.
AFTER participating in the LIVE instructor-led training:
1. Stay to the end of the LIVE instructor-led training to receive instructions and a link to access the post-course assessments and evaluation.
2. Use the link at the end of the LIVE instructor-led training to complete the post-course assessment and evaluation on the Epilepsy Learning Portal.
3. Upon successfully passing the knowledge portion of the post-course assessment you will become Seizure First Aid Certified.
4. You will be able to access your certificate on the portal.
If you are a certified health education specialist (CHES™/MCHES™), you will be eligible for continuing education credits after completing the course and passing the post-assessment and completing the course evaluation.
This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES™) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES™) to receive up to 1.5 total Category I contact education contact hours.
