Treatment for people with epilepsy most often begins with anti-seizure medication. Controlling seizures, avoiding medication side effects, and maintaining the best possible quality of life are common aims of therapy. Mood and behavior side effects related to antiseizure medications are well established and are important consideration in clinical decision making when treating epilepsy

Course Objectives:
Review the pharmacologic treatment of epilepsy
Review common side effects of anti-seizure medications
Review mood or behavior side effects related to use of antiseizure medications
Review common drug interactions
Describe the importance of adherence to alleviate risk in epilepsy
Review seizure first aid and the use of rescue medications

What Materials Or Equipment Do I Need To Take The Online Course?
You need access to a computer or device (smart phone, tablet, etc.) with reliable, high-speed internet. The browser must support JavaScript.
How Long Does It Take To Complete The Course Online?
The time to complete the course varies by each user. The course includes one video and a post-assessment & evaluation. These lessons must be taken in order. The video lessons are approximately 43 minutes long. Each video module must be viewed in its entirety and post-assessment completed to successfully complete this training
Are Continuing Education Units Available?

Yes. This course offers jointly accredited continuing education for multiple healthcare and behavioral health professions. The activity is jointly provided by the Epilepsy Foundation of America and Amedco LLC, a Jointly Accredited Provider recognized by:

  • The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)

  • The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)

  • The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

As a result, this course provides up to 1.00 hours of continuing education credit for eligible participants.

The post-assessment consists of several multiple-choice questions.
